Opn S™ and Xceed research

We’re committed to developing, verifying and validating our technology and unique audiological approach through innovative research. This ensures we’re providing the most relevant products that support cognitive health and improve quality of life. Oticon Opn™ introduced a paradigm shift in hearing technology, and Oticon Opn S™ and Xceed take it to the next level.

Oticon Opn S research

In order to deliver what the brain needs to make sense of sound, Oticon builds hearing aids on the philosophy that better hearing starts with the brain. This is BrainHearing™.  Oticon Opn S continues to expand upon the proven benefits of Oticon Opn and takes BrainHearing benefits to the next level.

better speech understanding

Better speech understanding and reduced listening effort

Oticon Opn and the open sound experience proved how Oticon’s unique approach to signal processing outperformed traditional hearing aid technology. In fact, compared to traditional technology, Oticon Opn improved speech understanding 30%, reduced listening effort 20%, and improved memory recall 20%*. Now, with the upgraded OpenSound Navigator™ and OpenSound Optimizer™ working together, Oticon Opn S is taking these results to new heights.

Compared to Oticon Opn, Oticon Opn S is proven to:
• Improve speech understanding by another 15%**
• Decrease listening effort by another 10%**
• Improve memory recall by an additional 10%**

enjoy speech understanding

Enjoy speech understanding on par with normal hearing

The biggest challenge for people with hearing loss is being able to communicate in noisy environments, especially when there are multiple speakers. With up to 6 dB more gain, open fittings and the open sound experience, Oticon Opn S patients can now enjoy speech understanding in these difficult listening environments – at the level of people with normal hearing*.

96% prefer Oticon Opn S over Oticon Opn

Opn S was put to a rigorous challenge in a two-week field trial with experienced and satisfied Opn patients. Patients were asked to compare their experience with Opn S to their current Opn hearing aids in a wide range of dynamic listening environments.

At the end of the trial period, the results showed that 96% rated Oticon Opn S to be ‘much better’ or ‘somewhat better’ than Oticon Opn. This unprecedented high preference is attributed to OpenSound Optimizer. When preferring Oticon Opn S, users chose speech intelligibility and sound quality as the reason for their preference.
